Virtual Engagement with with IPSCT Director, Brigadier Charles Mwazighe

The International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), based in Nairobi, Kenya, was created in 2001 as part of the Kenyan Defense Staff College to provide training to the United Nation Peacekeeping missions, and later to the African Union Peace Support Operations. Since then, the IPSTC has developed into one of the leading regional training, research and education centers as part of the evolving African Peace and Security Architecture.

The continuing state of change and instability, now exacerbated by the Covid19 pandemic, might seem to make establishing a network of reliable and transparent contacts highly unlikely. Nevertheless, the NATO Southern Hub (the "Hub") and the IPSTC found such an opportunity when the Hub Director, Brigadier General Davide Re, and the IPSCT Director, Brigadier Charles Mwazighe, had their first (virtual) meeting. Creating a trusted network is essential for both entities, to build bridges and gather local and regional perspectives to inform decision-making processes.

The event proved highly valuable as the discussions enabled greater understanding of both organizations' vision, mission and tasks, essential to finding potential common areas of interest.
