STUDY DAY ON ENERGY SECURITY IN MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA

On 5th December 2019, the NSD-S Hub in collaboration with Allied Command transformation organized a Study Day on Energy Security in Middle East and North Africa. The scope of the event was to enhance a better understanding on energy security and identify medium to long term challenges and opportunities in the MENA region. The vent was attended by participants from Policy Center for the new South, AU Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Division (CPEWD), FAO, Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, UN Department of Safety and Security, Royal institute El Cano, Bilkent University, Jordan Armed Forces, INEGMA, Crystal Energy, African Energy Consultancy, Center for Security Studies, Georgetown University and NATO staff. A myriad of topics were discussed including 'Energy Demand', 'a Libyan Issues case study', and 'Energy Transition in the MENA Region'. This event was a great opportunity for NATO to improve its regional understanding, helped by local actors, on how it can support future regional activities and thus improve its stability.
