WORKSHOP ON SECURITY DYNAMICS IN THE GULF OF GUINEA

The NSD-S Hub hosted five experts from prestigious regional organizations such as Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as well as one independent expert to a two-day workshop on 26 and 27 November, 2019 at its offices in Naples. The discussions that ensued were particularly animated and opened, allowing a confident exchange of knowledge and expertise. The workshop provided all the attendees a better and mutual understanding on current issues in the Gulf of Guinea and, it has paved the way for future constructive collaborations. The NSD-S Hub thrives to facilitate discussions and open forums from a regional perspective to mutually enhance knowledge among and between local practitioners and organizations that can support stability efforts in the South. It is constantly looking to increase NATO's situational awareness by coordinating, collecting and understanding the vast array of information available, whilst also focusing on the challenges and opportunities emerging from the region; this workshop facilitated this requirement whilst also strengthening links with a number of regional organsitions.
